Always bag and contain your trash for collection; no loose trash, no bags placed on the ground.

Set your trash and recycling out at 7:00am for collection.

A recycling bin is provided for no charge to all residents to help reduce the amount of household trash-contact us if you need one.

If your trash collection day falls on a holiday listed below, your trash will be picked up  on the following business day and your recycling collection will be delayed until the following week on your regular collection day.

**PAY TO PICK UP PROGRAM**

For a large item pick-up, outside of the FREE heavy clean up week, residents can purchase a tag at the Street Department to have placed on their item for pick up. Items will not be collected without being tagged. Prices depend on the size of the item but vary from $10-$30. The item will be picked up on your next regular trash day, from the purchase date of your tag.

Although we are taking larger items for this program, we will not pick up anything that will require extra equipment. Items must be light enough for two people to pick up.

If you would like more information about the program, please call 392-5169.

PASER Ratings:

The Engineering Department evaluates all of the City’s local roads every two years using the PASER rating system. This is a common rating system used by most Cities and Towns that are utilizing data to help drive their capital improvements allocations. In a basic sense, a “1” rating is a very poor road rating, while a “10” is the best rating. The PASER rating information collected in this process is used to prioritize which road segments will be improved each year during typical road maintenance projects. The results of the most recent PASER Rating Evaluation are available at the Engineering Department’s Website:

Shelbyville Street Department offers a FREE, curbside recycling program for all residential homes in the City of Shelbyville! Pick up is on residents’ regular trash day and is a full recycling service (paper, plastic, glass, cans etc).  This is a co-mingle program, no sorting required! PLEASE RINSE OFF ANY FOOD DEBRIS. For a list of acceptable items and program details, please visit our Facebook page, website or call!

Residents can purchase 96 gallon city trash toters for $80.35 with free delivery to your home. Contact the office to purchase.

The Shelbyville Street Department is accepting electronic devices at our facility at 605 Hale Rd. which will be delivered to the Pollution Prevention Center at a later date to be recycled. Items may be dropped off just inside the gate of the facility where there is a bin labeled “Electronics”. Items that will be accepted are televisions, VCR/DVD players, computer monitors, hard drives, printers, keyboards, scanners, and copy machines. Items can be dropped off from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Drop off is for city residents only.
The Street Department will not be collecting these items at curbside; this is a drop off service only.
